In stock
Roman, Republic to Imperial Period, ca. 300 BCE to 100 CE. A trio of wrought iron shaving blades with flattened, spatulate heads that resemble paint scrapers. The tips of two are intact – curled into loops for suspension – a ring is still attached to one! Clean shaven faces was not only a fashionable choice, but strategic for soldiers – beards could be grabbed in battle and for hygiene to prevent lice. Size: 4.75″ L x 2.5″ W (12.1 cm x 6.4 cm)
Condition: Heavy patina and mineral deposits on all. Losses and chips. Active flaking to patina when handled.
