West Africa, Nigeria, Nok culture, ca. 1000 BCE to 300 CE. A pair of miniature Nok terracotta forms comprising a stylized head and a standing figurine with a suspension hole, each displaying the culture’s characteristic abstracted features and likely serving a ritual or amuletic function. Size: 2.3″ L x 1.3″ W x 2.4″ H (5.8 cm x 3.3 cm x 6.1 cm); 3.8″ H (9.7 cm) on included custom stand.

Condition: Head is a fragment of a larger piece. Both have weathering and abrasions to surfaces as shown. Figurine is intact and wearable as a pendant. Both have liberal remains of detail.

Provenance: private Thousand Oaks, California, USA collection, acquired 1970s to 2000s
