Lot 107, Auction 4/19/2024: Early 19th C. English Trumeau Mirror, Gilt Wood Frame

$446.25

In stock

Western Europe, France / England, Regency era, ca. early 19th century CE. A beautiful and functional glass trumeau style mirror in a gesso and gilt wood frame. The gilt is 20% to 25% gold over an iron-red pigment, the age related fading and expected wear creates an attractive and weathered surfacing. The glass is a recent replacement and not original to the frame. Nice antique condition, functional and ready to display with a wire wall mount on the verso! Size: 10.25″ L x 0.9″ W x 20.25″ H (26 cm x 2.3 cm x 51.4 cm); gold quality: 20% to 25% (5K to 6K+)

Condition: Old repair to upper corners on the verso with wood glue, does not affect presentation. Small chips and losses to surface paint layers on frame, with some fading to pigments. Cardboard is used to hold mirror glass in place. Glass is probably not original and is clear and highly reflective. Overall good antique slightly distressed condition and ready to display.
