Pre-Columbian, Central America, El Salvador, Maya, Copador type, Late Classic Period, ca. 550 to 900 CE. A sizable pottery cylinder vessel of broad form with a flared rim, a stable base, and 5 bands of abstract glyphs encircling the exterior, perhaps bearing celestial interpretations; the interior rim is painted with red pigment while the remaining basin is undecorated. Size: 6.75″ Diameter x 9.3″ H (17.1 cm x 23.6 cm)
Condition: Abrasions and fading to pigment, with 1 stable fissure stemming from rim, otherwise intact and very good. Great preservation to Venus glyphs across exterior, and nice manganese deposits within interior. Previous inventory label beneath base.
