Maya Copador Polychrome Pottery Cylinder Vessel

Pre-Columbian, Central America, El Salvador, Maya, Copador type, Late Classic Period, ca. 550 to 900 CE. A hand-built pottery cylinder vase of slightly corseted form, with stone-burnished exterior surfaces decorated with ample glyphs in red and black pigment atop a light orange ground. Size: 5.7″ Diameter x 6.6″ H (14.5 cm x 16.8 cm)

Condition: Heavy calcification and earthen deposits within interior, and light fading to exterior pigment, otherwise intact and very good. Great root marks and pigment preservation. Old Arte Primitivo label on underside of base.
