$325.00

In stock

Near East, Holy Land / Levant, Late Bronze Age to Iron Age, ca. 1550 to 200 BCE. A group of four pottery oil lamps, each formed in a shell-shaped design with shallow, flared bodies and pinched spouts for a wick. The simple, organic profile echoes the contours of a bivalve shell while remaining practical, with a stable basin for oil and a defined channel for burning. This utilitarian form is associated with ancient Levantine domestic wares, where small clay lamps served as essential sources of light in homes and everyday settings. Size: 5.25″ L x 5″ W x 2″ H (13.3 cm x 12.7 cm x 5.1 cm)

Condition: Three are repaired with sand and grit added to obscure the break lines in some areas. Natural mineral and earthen deposits also present. Chips, loss to spout, and stable fissures.

Provenance: Collection of Y. Kayvan, Los Angeles, California, USA, acquired from a Los Angeles, California, USA gallery acquisition dates range from the late 1990s to 2005
