Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima or Nayarit, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A fascinating effigy vessel of a dog supporting a hollow globular bowl with holes for use as an incense burner, with a pair of serpents framing the sides. The jaguar also functioned as a whistle; note the mouth hole on the snout, vent on the chin, and tone holes to the sides! Size: 4.75″ L x 3.75″ W x 6.25″ H (12.1 cm x 9.5 cm x 15.9 cm)

Condition: Chip to the snout, otherwise intact! Earthen and mineral deposits throughout, with nice manganese deposits and root marks. Whistle does not function. Choice!
