$292.50

In stock

Ancient Central Asia, Luristan, Western Iran, Iron Age III, ca. 8th to 7th century BCE. A refined bronze cloak pin distinguished by a sculptural finial formed as two outward-facing bird heads, their mirrored profiles creating a compact emblem of balance and vigilance. The elongated shaft tapers elegantly below the finial, designed to pierce and secure layered garments while lending visual emphasis to the shoulder or chest. Rendered with simplified beaks and rounded heads, the avian forms reflect the symbolic language of Luristan metalwork, where birds often conveyed protection, liminality, and divine watchfulness. The surface displays a deep green and brown patina, the accumulated evidence of age, enhancing the pins sculptural clarity and quiet authority as both ornament and utilitarian object. Size: 1.2″ W x 6.5″ H (3 cm x 16.5 cm); 6.8″ H (17.3 cm) on included custom stand.

Condition: Some flakes, nicks, and abrasions commensurate with age, but, otherwise, intact and excellent with rich patina throughout.

Provenance: private Colorado, USA collection
