Near East, Israel, Hebron, ca. 19th century CE. A pair of necklaces composed of Hebron glass trade beads. The beads were produced from salt glass using winding or molding techniques and display the characteristic pitted surfaces and matte finishes associated with Hebron production, in hues of pale green, turquoise, and yellow. Often referred to as “Kano beads” due to their widespread circulation through West African trade networks, particularly in Nigeria, these beads were valued as both personal adornment and forms of exchange. Size of strands doubled: 28″ L (71.1 cm); largest bead: 0.8″ Diameter x 0.6″ W (2 cm x 1.5 cm)

Condition: Strung in modern times on monofilament wires. Pitting and abrasions.
