Native American / First Nations, Northwestern United States, Alaska, or Canada, Inuit culture, ca. mid-20th century CE. A stone sculpture covered in hide depicting a kayak and figure holding a bone paddle. The animal skin- likely seal- is stitched over the stone boat, and the figure is carved from a separate piece and secured by covering the torso in a rawhide parka then sewing to the cockpit. The paddle is carved from a bone, likely from a marine mammal, and tied to the arms. Size: 13.75″ L x 1.75″ W x 5.5″ H (34.9 cm x 4.4 cm x 14 cm)
