Julia Etsitty (Native American, Dine (Navajo), contemporary) A gorgeous naja necklace with matching earrings made from sterling silver with beautiful pendants along the length inlaid with black, bovine horn cut to resemble bear claws, with lightly polished turquoise and coral inlaid in sawtooth bezels. Each pendant has fine silverwork flowers, spiraling wires and stamped motifs. The verso of the central naja pendant is signed by the artist and marked as sterling. The “naja” is a distinctive crescent-shaped design that is an important element in Navajo jewelry and art. It is typically associated with the traditional squash blossom necklace, a significant piece of Navajo and Southwestern Native American jewelry. Size of necklace strand: 33″ L (83.8 cm); naja pendant: 3.25″ L x 3″ W (8.3 cm x 7.6 cm); earrings: 2″ L x 1″ W (5.1 cm x 2.5 cm); silver quality: 93%; total combined weight: 408.8 grams

Condition: Pre-owned, vintage condition. Dark patina and toning to silver. Light surface wear and some minor abrasions and nicks to horn, but otherwise intact. Signed by jeweler on the verso of the Naja pendant.
