Native American, Southwestern United States, Arizona, Anasazi (Ancestral Puebloan), Jeddito, ca. 1325 to 1600 CE. A Jeddito black-on-yellow pottery bowl in a hemispherical form with a thick walls and painted with stepped geometric motifs on the interior and a turkey track symbol on the exterior. Jeddito wares are notable for the yellowish-quality of their white pigments as seen here. This bowl was constructed via the coil-and-scrape technique, painted with pigments that are iron-manganese based, over time these may fade to a rusty-brown hue due to the iron content – as seen here! Size: 5.5″ Diameter x 2.3″ H (14 cm x 5.8 cm)
