Lot 79, Auction 3/19/2026: Rare Ancient Persian Silver Incised Bead
$325.00
In stock
Near East, Mesopotamia to Sasanian Empire, ca. 1000 BCE to 500 CE. A small silver bead formed in an hourglass profile and decorated with deeply cut linear and stippled motifs, arranged in bands that evoke palm fronds or stylized vegetation. The engraved surfaces create strong texture and contrast, while the central waist and drilled perforation suggest it was intended for suspension or stringing as part of a larger adornment. Size: 0.3″ Diameter x 0.6″ H (0.8 cm x 1.5 cm); silver quality: 98%; weight: 4.4 grams
Condition: Pitting and abrasions, especially around the drill holes, but otherwise intact. Mineral deposits in the suspension holes.
Provenance: ex-T.F. Holy Lands collection, formed since the 1960s
