South Asia, Northeast India / Burma, Nagaland, Konyak Naga people, ca. mid to late 20th century CE. A necklace featuring a large pendant formed from paired muntjac deer antlers bound together at the center with fiber cord. A small cast brass human head is mounted above the antlers and accented with a tuft of dark hair, evoking the warrior symbolism historically associated with Konyak adornment. The necklace is strung on cord with bone beads and coiled brass tube elements. Size of antler/head: 8.25″ L x 2.5″ W (21 cm x 6.4 cm)
Condition: Dark patina and pitting to brass face. Chips and abrasions to bone beads. Strung on a nylon cord.
