South Asia, India, and Southeast Asia, Thailand / Laos, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A group of three cotton and silk textiles. One is a decorative door or window hanging embellished with inset glass mirror elements, known shisha or “mirror work,” and embroidery borders. Another is a square panel densely worked with metallic sequins and silk embroidery arranged around a central face medallion motif. The third is a woven silk square from Laos featuring bands of warm orange and beige accented with shimmering gold-toned metallic thread. Size of largest: 40″ L x 40″ W (101.6 cm x 101.6 cm)

Condition: Largest has some fading and discoloration, with a few frayed threads and missing some sequins. The mirror textile is well worn, and possibly cut from larger panel, and has a raw edge, and is missing a hanging panel. Heavy losses to embroidery throughout, missing mirror insets. Discoloration and fading throughout. Silk textile has tiny pinhole perforations and minor thread pulling, but intact and good condition.
