Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Chupicuaro culture, ca. 500 to 100 BCE. A hand-built pottery bowl of broad form with tall walls and a planar basin all resting atop a trio of hollow conical feet. The stone-burnished, russet-hued exterior surfaces are decorated with an intricate program of white-painted rectangles, stripes, and zigzagging steps outlined in black, and the underside as well as the basin interior are undecorated. Size: 8.20″ Diameter x 4.7″ H (20.8 cm x 11.9 cm)
Condition: Professional repair and restoration, with resurfacing and overpainting along new material and break lines. Abrasions and light fading to original pigment, with small chips and light pitting, otherwise in nice condition. Great preservation to motifs.
