Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 2nd century CE. A beautiful bronze situla with deep wheel-cut grooves below the rim. A pair of separately-cast bronze handles are cast with palmettes and articulate along petite loops emanating from the shoulder. The surfaces exhibit a gorgeous red-brown surface patina. Size: 9″ W x 9.75″ H (22.9 cm x 24.8 cm); 15″ H (38.1 cm) with handles up.

Condition: One loop end of handle missing, otherwise intact and excellent. Great patina throughout.
