Ancient Near East, Northwestern Iran, Luristan, ca. 1200 to 800 BCE. A set of 2 cast-bronze axe heads, each of an interesting form. The first axe head features a cylindrical socketing shaft lined with exterior spikes as well as a horizontal blade head. The larger axe head features a vertical blade head suitable for chopping as well as smooth, lustrous surfaces across the exterior. Size of largest: 6.75″ L x 1.3″ W x 2.8″ H (17.1 cm x 3.3 cm x 7.1 cm)
Condition: Loss to outer edge of horizontal blade as shown; larger axe head is intact. Each with light abrasions and nicks, and minor earthen deposits, otherwise in great condition. Nice patina throughout.
