Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico to Guatemala, Olmec to Maya culture, ca. 500 BCE to 900 CE. A necklace centered with an ancient greenstone face pendant carved in stylized form with drilled suspension perforations. The strand incorporates ancient white quartzite beads of tubular and disc form, interspersed with modern faceted purple stone beads adding contrast in tone and light reflection. Restrung in modern times with a magnetic clasp for ease of wear, the necklace is wearable. Size of strand: 22″ L (55.9 cm); pendant: 1.7″ L x 1.2″ W (4.3 cm x 3 cm)

Condition: Greenstone pendant has chips and small old losses, with edge softening. The white quartzite beads display irregular shaping and surface abrasion from use. The necklace has been restrung in modern times with faceted purple beads and a magnetic clasp, and remains stable and wearable.
