Lot 52, Auction 4/20/2026: Two Chupicuaro Pottery Tripod Dishes – Bowl & Plate

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Chupicuaro, ca. 500 to 100 BCE. A pair of red-slipped and highly burnished pottery tripod vessels – one a shallow dish and the other a bowl – each supported by three conical legs. The bowl features a rounded body encircled by a pale cream band below the rim and a raised, bumpy texture along the rim and shoulder. The flat dish rests on three openwork legs, its underside a cream-buff hue. Size of bowl: 8.5″ Diameter x 3.25″ H (21.6 cm x 8.3 cm)
Condition: Old inventory labels and numbers written on the bases. Abrasions and stable hairline fissures radiating from the rim on the bowl, but otherwise intact and good conditions.
