Native American, Southern United States, ca. late 20th to 21st century CE. A bison jaw tomahawk or war club made in modern times by the Creek artist La Ne Ayo, using traditional materials and techniques. The jawbone has rawhide straps and horsehair tassel, strands of seed beads on the wooden handle and fur, likely from a coyote. A laminated tag that certifies authenticity, the artist’s tribal affiliation, and census # 36597, are attached. Size: 26.5″ L x 13″ W (67.3 cm x 33 cm)
