Roman, Imperial period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. An attractive Roman agate cameo of a female, perhaps a goddess, set in a modern gold ring to be wearable. Shown in profile facing left, the elegant beauty presents a graceful features with a straight nose, a large eye, and thin closed lips, all crowned by the a thick, wavy coiffure with intricately carved coiling locks. A stola drapes her left shoulder cascading down her clavicle in billowing folds while a slender fillet surmounts her coiffure. Size of ring: 0.9″ L x 0.8″ W (2.3 cm x 2 cm); of cameo: 0.8″ L x 0.6″ W (2 cm x 1.5 cm); US ring size: 5.75; gold quality: 60.5% (equivalent to over 14 karats); weight: 6.5 grams

Condition: Ancient cameo set in modern gold ring to be wearable. Losses to peripheries of cameo, but all are covered by bezel of ring for cameo to appear whole. Otherwise, ring is intact, wearable, and in excellent condition with nice remaining detail on cameo. Accompanied by custom modern ring box and ring cushion.
