Magna Graecia, South Italic, Daunian, ca. 300 BCE. An attractive pottery plate featuring an elegant, minimalist form of a shallow bowl, a broad rim, and a rounded base. Though the exterior is left bare, the interior features a creamy beige hued ground with a target motif in red, yellow, and black at the enter and traces of a painted pattern of palmettes and dolphins. Size: 7.6″ Diameter x 1.5″ H (19.3 cm x 3.8 cm)
Condition: Surface wear with abrasions and staining as shown, all commensurate with age, but otherwise intact and excellent with liberal remaining pigments and detail and earthen deposits to surface.
Provenance: private La Crescenta, California, USA collection, before 2000
