Southeast Asia, Thailand, Neolithic Period, Ban Kao culture, ca. 2nd to 1st millennium BCE. A set of 4 hand-carved stone adzes made for burial. Ban Kao is a mound in southeast Thailand that has been excavated to reveal an ancient village with numerous burials. Polished stone adzes in a variety of shapes and sizes have been found with these burials, who were almost all placed extended on their backs with adzes beside them and pots placed at strategic points around them. Size of largest: 6″ L x 2.7″ W x 0.68″ H (15.2 cm x 6.9 cm x 1.7 cm)

Condition: Minor chips and abrasions, otherwise intact and excellent. Great surface smoothness throughout.
