Lot 300, Auction 4/5/2024: Chinese Ming Dynasty Glazed Pottery Jars (pr)

East Asia, China, Ming Dynasty, ca. 1368 to 1644 CE. A splendid pair of stoneware jars, each of ovoid form with a ring-shaped base and an attenuated flared rim, all enveloped in celadon-hued glaze with scrolling, abstract, floral motifs painted on top in a darker colored pigment. Size of larger: 6″ W x 9.8″ H (15.2 cm x 24.9 cm)

Condition: More petite has 2 stable hairline fissures to base. Both have some firing imperfections, chipping, pitting, and abrasions commensurate with age, but are otherwise intact with good remaining pigments.

Provenance: private Lumberton, Texas, USA collection, acquired before 2010
