Native American, North America, Southwestern Arizona, Hohokam, ca. 900 to 1400 CE. A wearable necklace of elegant form that is constructed with several dozen tubular beads carved from white marine shell. Dispersed throughout the composition are 4 turquoise slivers as well as a central greenstone pendant resembling an ancient celt. The Hohokam culture evolved in the deserts of southern Arizona, extending southward into extreme northern Mexico and northward as far as Flagstaff Arizona. Size (necklace): 68.5″ L (174 cm); (largest pendant): 0.88″ W x 1.22″ H (2.2 cm x 3.1 cm)

Condition: Wearable as shown and strung in modern times. Shell beads were carved in ancient times; stringing is modern; and turquoise/greenstone pendants’ date of carving is unknown but likely modern. Some beads and pendants with chips and abrasions, otherwise in great condition. Nice coloration.
