In stock

Native American, Southwestern United States, Safford Basin and Lower San Pedro Valley, Salado, San Carlos Red-on-Brown type, ca. 1200 to 1450 CE. An attractive pottery bowl boasting impressively thin walls that rise up to an annular rim above a shallow basin, all sitting upon a round yet stable base. Termed San Carlos Red-on-Brown ware, the vessel features an interior covered with black soot while the exterior boasts red-on-brown crisscross motifs reminiscent of basketry. San Carlos Red-on-Brown can be considered of both the Mogollon and Hohokam traditions as designs used are very similar to Tanque Verde Red-on-Brown, showing a definite Hohokam influence on the Salado potters. Size: 7.6″ W x 3″ H (19.3 cm x 7.6 cm)
