Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Timor Island, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A chieftain’s disc pendant of relatively flat form made from a hammered sheet of nickel brass (also called nickel silver). The circular artifact features a spirit boat with a central figure in stippled impressions across the obverse, and a pierced central hole was perhaps for suspension. Size: 8.1″ Diameter (20.6 cm)
Condition: Slight bending to overall form, with light abrasions, minor softening to some stippled decorations, and scattered indentations, otherwise in great condition.
Provenance: private Hawaii, USA collection, acquired from 2000 to 2010
