Ancient Central Asia, Indus Valley, Harappan / Mohenjo-Daro civilization, ca. 2700 to 2000 BCE. A hand-carved bone figure depicting a stylized human grasping the top of a large quadruped’s head, perhaps a bull. The figure presents nude atop the sizable creature, suggesting that they are perhaps a performer or acrobat in the act of entertaining. Size: 2.04″ L x 0.68″ W x 1.51″ H (5.2 cm x 1.7 cm x 3.8 cm)

Condition: Repairs to back legs and small losses in several areas as shown. Abrasions and expected ossification, with softening to finer details. Nice preservation to overall form.

Provenance: private Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA collection, inherited via grandfather, who collected before 1980
