Tom F. Glover (American, 1949-2011). Glazed pottery jar, n.d. Signed on underside of base. An impressive ceramic jar by Texan potter Tom Glover featuring an ovoid body surmounted by a petite, flared spout. Reminiscent of the hare’s fur effect found in Chinese Jian ware, the voluminous vessel features caramel-hued glaze at the top that dramatically darkens to a rich tone of espresso. Light blue and indigo spots as well as splashes of creamy beige add further variegation the light-colored top of the vessel, which drips down the rounded shoulder, further accentuating the jar’s elegant form. Tom Glover was born in Seymour, Texas and taught ceramics and drawing at Amarillo College from 1977 to 1986 when he moved to Guadalupita, New Mexico to work as a full-time potter. He was a long-time member of Taos Artisans Co-op Gallery, and has pieces there as well as at Marigold Arts and the Museum of Natural History in Santa Fe. Size: 6.3″ Diameter x 11.5″ H (16 cm x 29.2 cm)

Condition: Signed on underside of base. Light surface wear as shown, but otherwise intact and in overall excellent condition.

Provenance: private Cripple Creek, Colorado, USA collection
