Gina Walter (Portuguese, 1922-1994). Rose bouquet. Oil on board, mid to late 20th century. Signed in lower right. A beautiful oil painting by Portuguese artist Gina Walter depicting a blossoming bouquet of roses, sprawling outward from a hemispherical, bowl on a light green background. Dotted with white blossoms of baby’s breath amongst verdant foliage, the roses bloom forth boasting an array of hues from deep tones of aubergine and violet to glowing shades of lemon chiffon and citrine. Note how Walter’s liberal brushstrokes and stark background accentuate the flourishing of each blossom, while her use of shadow highlight their lush density. Size of painting: 8.2″ W x 6″ H (20.8 cm x 15.2 cm); with frame: 14.75″ W x 12.5″ H (37.5 cm x 31.8 cm)
Condition: Signed in lower right. In excellent overall condition. Set in custom wooden frame with suspension hook on verso for display.
