In stock

North America, Southwestern United States, ca. 20th to 21st century CE. A cow skull with massive horns, the bone surface is covered with lightly polished Kingman turquoise nuggets. The exterior and inside the orifices are painted black to contrast with the stones and a nickel-brass medallion stamped “Longhorn.” Longhorn cattle are iconic to Texas due to their historical significance in the state’s cattle ranching industry and their distinctive long, curved horns which are unique to the breed – the longest cattle horn spreads recorded have all belonged to longhorns. Size of skull & width between horn tips: 20″ L x 41″ W (50.8 cm x 104.1 cm); just skull: 20″ L x 10″ W (50.8 cm x 25.4 cm)

Please note that this item is heavy/oversized. Please inquire about shipping prior to bidding.

Condition: Missing a few turquoise stones. Natural chips / aging to the horns. Horns are tightly secure. Abrasions and indentations to nickel-brass medallion. Wires threaded through the skull verso and attached to a bolt for suspension. These may need to be replaced for a sturdier attachment wire.
