United States, ca. mid to late 20th century CE. A plaster mannequin head wih Qing dynasty style hats, which was probably used as a prop / statue to re-create an old American western town at a privately run museum / tourist attraction. The plaster head is hollow and painted with a life-like expression and outfitted with a Chinese Qing Dynasty style close fitting cap with an attached yarn queue braid, and a conical straw hat; both hats are probably mid to late 20th century. This mannequin prop was aimed to help immerse visitors in a Chinatown / American frontier during the 19th century, particularly during the era of the Gold Rush. During the California Gold Rush Chinese immigrants played a significant role in the development of the region, often taking jobs as miners or railroad workers. Condition: Chips and abrasions to the plaster around the neck, but otherwise intact and good condition. Straw hat is worn with losses to straw on the top. queue hat is intact and good vintage condition.
