Near East, Persia (Iran), Seljuq (Saljuq / Seljuk) Empire, ca. 11th to 13th century CE. A beautiful and wearable Islamic gold signet ring with a carnelian stone intaglio depicting a deer. The band is a thick, flattened sheet etched with curvilinear motifs- made from 67% gold (equivalent to 16K+), the shoulders slightly widen to support the bezel- lightly etched with linear patterns and a sculpted four-pronged setting. Interestingly a stippled circular motif is marked on the flat underside of the bezel. The orange cabochon carnelian is etched with a simple deer with antlers leaping in profile. The four-prong style and animal motif were popular styles in the medieval Seljuk empire. Size of cabochon bezel: 0.67″ L x 0.5″ W (1.7 cm x 1.3 cm); band opening: 0.68″ Diameter (1.7 cm); US ring size: 5.25; gold quality: 67.68% (equivalent to 16K+); silver quality: 19.49%; weight: 7.4 grams

Condition: Overall excellent condition and wearable! Some areas of dark toning and patina. Wear and nicks to setting and band. Stone cabachon is intact.
