Lot 241, Auction 4/20/2026: Three Victorian Iron Hand & Ball Door Knockers

Sold

Western Europe, England, Victorian Era, ca. 19th century CE. A set of three antique iron door knockers formed as sculptural lady’s hands, each cast in high relief with naturalistic fingers, a ring, and cuffed wrist, fitted with a threaded mounting bolt for securing through the door. Each hand clasps a small sphere or apple, creating a bold and theatrical silhouette. With strong period character and handsome surface wear, these striking knockers make a memorable statement for an entryway, restoration project, or decorative display. Size of largest hand: 5.75″ L x 2.25″ W (14.6 cm x 5.7 cm)

Condition: Overall stable with age-related wear throughout. Old chip to the plate on one. All three show surface oxidation. Minor abrasions and softening to the high points and details from use.

Provenance: private Denver, Colorado, USA collection, acquired in the 1960’s
