Ancient Central Asia, southern Azerbaijan and northern Iran, Ardabil region, Meshkinshar, Middle Bronze Age, ca. 1800 CE. An attractive blackware pitcher featuring a squat body with a broad hip, a sloped shoulder leading to a tubular neck, and a cylindrical handle connecting the shoulder to the folded rim. Negative resist decoration adorns the shoulder and neck featuring vertical ribs between the rim and neckline, and blocks of straight and undulating lines across the shoulder. Size: 7.375″ L x 7.5″ W x 7.875″ H (18.7 cm x 19 cm x 20 cm)

This piece has been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) analysis and has been found to be ancient and of the period stated. A full printed and bound report will accompany the item upon purchase.

Condition: A few minor nicks and abrasions, as well as some small, stable hairline fissures near rim. Fire darkening in areas. Slight wobble to base, but mostly sturdy and can stand independently of support. Otherwise, intact and excellent. Impressively preserved with good remaining decoration. TL holes to underside of base and interior of handle.
