Ancient Near East, Persia, Achaemenid Empire, ca. 550 to 330 BCE. An opulent silver oinochoe boasting a graceful silhouette with a high-arching, trifurcated handle terminating at each end with a pair of applique palmettes joining it to the interior rim and body of the vessel. The elegant pitcher features a flared mouth, an attenuated neck, and a broad, rounded shoulder that tapers to a narrow leg and spreading foot. The underside of the foot is stamped with an incised rosette. Size: 1.8″ L x 2″ W x 3.5″ H (4.6 cm x 5.1 cm x 8.9 cm); 4.3″ H (10.9 cm) on included custom stand; silver quality: 96.74%; weight: 57.3 grams

Condition: Professionally repaired and restored with some chipping and small areas of loss near base. Slight bending and indentations as well as expected nicks and abrasions to surface, commensurate with age. Liberal remaining detail and rich patina throughout.
