Ancient Near East, Northwestern Iran / Turkey, Luristan & Ancient Persian cultures, late Bronze to early Iron Age, ca. 2000 to 600 BCE. A collection of bronze and copper arrow and / or spear projectile heads – each case with a bifacial blade, raised midrib, and slender hafting tang. A nice variety of sizes and types – one has a etched linear motif along the rib – perhaps serving as a funerary offering. Size of largest: 7″ L x 1″ W (17.8 cm x 2.5 cm)
Condition: Minor chips and nicks to all. The surfaces of several have been recently cleaned / polished. Good remains of patina and mineral deposits on the rest.
Provenance: private Everett, Massachusetts, USA collection, purchased between September 21, 2002 and October 2015
