Native American, Midwestern United States, Illinois, Hopewell culture, Middle Woodland period, ca. 100 BCE to 400 CE. A pair of cache blades knapped from dark gray chert displaying scattered white mineral inclusions, with broad ovate forms, tapered tips, and visible flake scars from careful bifacial reduction. Size of largest: 6″ L x 4″ W (15.2 cm x 10.2 cm)
Condition: Old chips and abrasions, but otherwise intact.
Provenance: private southwestern Pennsylvania, USA collection, acquired prior to 2000
