Lot 209, Auction 4/5/2024: Egyptian Late Dynastic Faience Ushabti

Ancient Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th Dynasty, ca. 664 to 525 BCE. A mold-formed faience ushabti of slender form, with raised head, all covered in green-hued glaze. The mummiform effigy is presented with arms crossed atop the chest, a tripartite headdress above a false beard, and a column of hieroglyphs down the front of the legs. Ushabti were intended as spiritual workers in the fields of Osiris in the afterlife. Size: 0.73″ L x 1.25″ W x 4.36″ H (1.9 cm x 3.2 cm x 11.1 cm)

Condition: Minor nicks and abrasions, with softening to finer details and hieroglyphs, and fading/wear to glaze pigment, otherwise intact and very good. Great preservation to overall form.
