Lot 202, Auction 4/5/2024: Egyptian TIP Faience Ushabti w/ Hieroglyphs

Ancient Egypt, Third Intermediate Period, 21st to 22nd Dynasty, ca. 1069 to 720 BCE. A hand-built faience ushabti standing in mummiform with arms crossed atop the chest. The face exhibits petite eyes and a black-painted headband while additional black pigment creates a column of hieroglyphs down the front of the legs. The entire figure is covered in beautiful blue glaze that imbues it with a dignified presentation. Size: 1.22″ L x 1.48″ W x 4.32″ H (3.1 cm x 3.8 cm x 11 cm); 4.99″ H (12.7 cm) on included custom stand.

Condition: Minor nicks and abrasions, with scattered bubbling, and light fading to glaze pigment, otherwise intact and excellent. Great preservation to overall form and most black-painted decorations.
