Native American, Northwestern United States, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Plateau Tribes, Nez Perce / Yakama / Warm Springs, ca. early-20th century CE. A beaded bag made from soft leather and lined with cotton cloth, the front panel is entirely covered with vibrant glass seed beads that are flat stitched , vibrant geometric patterns on a white ground. Native people in the Columbia River Plateau region (eastern Oregon / Washington, northern Idaho, and western Montana) were highly talented with beadwork, making bags and purses such as this for personal use during pow wows and as sale items. Condition: Missing one or two beads in a corner, otherwise beading is tight and excellent. Age commensurate discoloration to the leather, but otherwise intact and great condition.
