In stock

United States / Cuba, ca. mid-20th century CE. A group of photograph prints including an April 20, 1960 AP/Wide World Photos press image of Fidel Castro throwing the ceremonial first pitch to open the baseball season in Havana. The remaining photographs are earlier enlarged prints from the 1930s, depicting landscapes, rural scenes, and interiors, printed on paper mats. Several versos bear pencil inscriptions describing the scenes and attributing images to “C. W. Barrell,” though it is unclear if this refers to Charles Wisner Barrell (1885-1974), an art critic and journalist. Size: 10″ L x 8″ W (25.4 cm x 20.3 cm)

Condition: Bending to paper as shown with wear to corners. Age related discoloration. Versos show annotations in pencil. No major tears or losses.

Provenance: private D. C. collection, California, USA; D. C. is an Emmy Award winning Hollywood writer and Executive Producer, collected before 2000
