$765.00

In stock

East Asia, China, Qing Dynasty to Republic period, ca. late 19th to mid-20th century CE. A pair of vintage enamel and cloisonne gilt brass statues that also function as vessels – an elephant and a fu lion. The head of the lion is removable, the inside of his body is hollow. The elephant has a smaller golden elephant knob, the lid lifting off, also revealing a hollow interior. The raised trunk has an opening that forms a spout, and the tail forms the handle. Size of elephant: 7.5″ L x 3″ W x 5.5″ H (19 cm x 7.6 cm x 14 cm)

Condition: Good vintage / antique condition. Surface wear and patina on both. Chips and nicks to enamel, and some stains / discoloration. We do not recommend using either for food storage due to lead content in the enamel.

Provenance: private Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA collection
