Native American, Southwestern United States, Arizona, Hunt, Anasazi (Ancient Puebloan) culture, Chaco and Cibola Tradition, Snowflake Type, ca. 1175 to 1325 CE. A delightful pottery bowl boasting mesmerizing black on white decoration of steppe motif in spiraling patterns along the interior. Created via the coil and scrape technique, this hemispherical vessel is a terrific example of painted black on white pottery of the ancient Anasazi. These nested and meandering designs once held deep meaning with their artists, conveying ancient messages regarding families, alliances, and weather patterns. Size: 8.28″ Diameter x 4.125″ H (21 cm x 10.5 cm)

Condition: Professional repair and restoration to base and walls, with resurfacing and overpainting along new material and break lines. Abrasions and light fading to original pigment, otherwise in nice condition. Great preservation to motif within basin.
