East Asia, China, Zhou to Han Dynasty, ca. 700 BCE to 220 CE. A collection of 4 leaded bronze belt hooks, these were worn around the waist the knob attaches to or through the belt strap, and the other strap end would wrap around the hook. Garment / belt hooks became popular in the early Eastern Zhou era (771- 221 BCE) and remained so until the Han Dynasty 206 BCE to 220 CE) when they were largely replaced by buckles. Size of largest: 5.5″ L x 0.75″ W (14 cm x 1.9 cm)

Condition: Heavy green patina and toning on all. Mineral deposits scattered throughout. Old chips to tip and surface layers, but otherwise intact.

Provenance: private Lumberton, Texas, USA collection, acquired before 2010
