Native American, Southwestern United States, Four Corners Region, southern Colorado Plateau, Anasazi (Ancestral Puebloan), ca. 1030 to 1175 CE. A hand-built pottery bowl of broad form with thick walls and a rounded base. The interior of the russet-hued vessel features a repeating band of geometric motifs including 10 large cruciform shapes, each with interior concentric circles, that are connected to their neighbors; 2 of the top bard extend up to the edge of the decoration. Size: 11.125″ Diameter x 5″ H (28.3 cm x 12.7 cm)

Condition: Professionally repaired with areas of restoration, with resurfacing and overpainting along new material and break lines. Abrasions and pitting, with light fading to original pigment, otherwise in nice condition. Good preservation to decorative motifs within basin.

Provenance: private Reinsmoen collection, Clear Lake, Iowa, USA, acquired through descent from Robert Anderson, acquired prior to 2000.
