Henry Guerriero, also known as Roman A. Clef (American, b. 1929) Untitled, 1978. A luminous abstract Lucite sculpture rendered in a pale, sea-glass green hue that captures and transforms light as it passes through. The polished, semi-translucent surface magnifies and distorts reflections, creating shifting optical effects within the smooth, organic form. A lateral tunnel pierces the sculpture, intersected by two deep, conical depressions that nearly meet at right angles – a composition that invites both visual and spatial contemplation. The piece rests on a solid Lucite cube base, its underside inscribed: “1978 H. Guerriero M. Leopold / 159 (UCC2) 4/9 / 159/78.” This signature marks the collaboration between Henry Guerriero (who legally changed his name to Roman A. Clef in 1978) and Michael Leopold, his long-time critic and collaborator. Size: 7″ W x 15.6″ H (17.8 cm x 39.6 cm)

Condition: Some minor scratches and abrasions to the surface, but otherwise great condition, intact and signed on the base.

Provenance: Private collection of important Hollywood family, collected between 1930 and 1980
