Ancient Near East, Northwestern Iran, Luristan, ca. 1200 to 800 BCE. A cast-bronze axe head bearing a blade of impressive length and slenderness. The socketing shaft is comprised of a cylindrical tube with 2 narrow flanges, and behind is a knob-shaped binding protrusion. The blade features a pair of gentle fullers that run along the outer half before merging to form 1 cohesive fuller. Attractive layers of green, brown, and russet patina have formed across the surfaces throughout the millennia. Size: 12.3″ L x 1.05″ W x 3.2″ H (31.2 cm x 2.7 cm x 8.1 cm)

Condition: Slight bending to overall form, with light abrasions and nicks, otherwise intact and excellent. Great patina throughout.
