Ancient Near East, Northwestern Iran / Turkey, Luristan, late Bronze to early Iron Age, ca. 2000 to 600 BCE. A collection of 5 bronze and copper spear heads, a cylindrical mace, and a slender double headed pick axe head. These may have been hafted atop wooden handles for use in battle or ceremony, or they may have functioned as burial goods. Size of mace: 3.5″ L x 1″ W (8.9 cm x 2.5 cm)

Condition: The surface of one spear is highly polished to a coppery sheen. The others are also recently polished and cleaned, but have remains of patina. Nicks and chips to blades, but otherwise intact.

Provenance: private Everett, Massachusetts, USA collection; ex-Timeline Auctions, May 25th, 2017, Lot 1907; ex-Ancient Resource, February 11, 2018, Lot 92.
